INTRODUCTION

ILO International labour standards are legal instruments drawn up by the constituents of ILO   that frame basic principles for labours. Labour Organization has maintained and developed a system of international labour standards aimed at promoting opportunities for women and men to obtain decent and productive work, in terms of freedom, equity, security and dignity. In today’s globalized economy, international labour standards are an essential component in the international framework for ensuring that the growth of the global economy provides benefits to all.The International Labour Organization (ILO) was founded in 1919 .It was incorporated into the UN as a specialized agency in 1946. The organization’s goal is to serve as a unity and harmony between governments and workers. It emphasizes the need for workers to have a healthy and safe condition to work. The ILO promotes international labour standards through its field offices in Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, the Arab States, Asia. The organization provides training on fair employment opportunities and technical cooperation for projects in partner countries, analyzes labour statistics and publishes related research, and regularly holds events and conferences to examine critical social and labour issues. The ILO was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1969.

International labour standards raise the challenges faced by the workers and employers at the global level. Issues like minimum wage, working time, respect for equality, favourable condition and equal pay for equal work are the common issues of every worker. Investment in vocational training can be a good attempt towards trained workforce. Safety standards are also the primary concern of ILO. There are many laws regarding the labours. Employment protection can encourage the labours to take risks and innovate something new. ILO believes in quality production and comes up with various schemes and advancement. Social protection like unemployment scheme are also is the secondary scheme for ILO. T he economy of every country are made by the labours. Freedom of association, collective bargaining ,strikes, are some of the rights of the labours. If any rights of the workers are compromised ILO stands for them. The proper management and organisation can improve the working conditions and conflicts of labours thus this can enhance social stability and growth of economy. International labour standards not only respond to the changing world but also take into account the needs of sustainable development. Keeping in mind the needs and necessities of workers and also dependents. In India we have labour law which specifically talks about the workers compensation, wages, pension etc. International labour standards first talk about the development of worker as human being rather than workers. In short economic development is more important to improve the life and dignity of human being. By this ,ILO aims for a productive and suitable work place. At the United Nations General Assembly four pillars of the decent work agenda are employment creation, social protection, rights at work and social dialogue became the main element of new sustainable development agenda 2030. Achieving the goal of good work in the globalized economy requires determination and hard work. The countries are joining hand for development of international legal instruments on finance, trade, environment, human rights and labour. Every year ILO contributes to this legal framework by promoting and sponsoring international labour standards. Not only ILO but the government of respective country should also make schemes for labours. Proper education and training of workers will help in contributing economic growth and stability. But the scenario is different, there is lack of skilled labours, lack of opportunities, improper filling of vacancies and over burdened workers with less salary. In developing countries the biggest problem is the incapability of providing funds and social justice.  Sometimes while working they met an accident which results in permanent or temporary injury and in some cases death also. Safety measures must be ensured by the organisation. By this the concept poverty and child labour can be eliminated by employing the deserved candidate.

CONCLUSION

Looking into the current scenario in this pandemic it has worsened the condition of labours. This pandemic has not only affected one country but the entire world is suffering from this Migrants are struggling for essentials like food and money. The conditions of the workers are much pathetic in developing countries like India. Many political parties assure that they are doing their level best to upgrade their condition but nothing seems to work. So, major steps must be taken so as to uplift these people.
